Trivia Questions

Trivia Questions are Extremely Popular

Picture
Trivia questions have always been extremely popular. People enjoy showing how much they know about general knowledge questions, as well as showing off to their friends. Many places, such as bars or pubs, offer “Trivia nights” where people can compete with their friends on teams against others for fun and for prizes. The prizes themselves rarely seem to matter. People will be just as competitive and into the challenge if the prize is a coaster, as they will for games that feature larger prizes. Most of the fun and excitement seems to come from being the first to answer the question and being noted for the knowledge itself. The appeal of trivia questions is not simply limited to bar challenges. These types of general knowledge questions have been taken and transformed into games for people. There are board games, such as trivial pursuit, blurt, scategories, and so on, that take general knowledge questions and pit players against one another. These are good clean fun, suitable for the entire family.  They can provide many hours of fun and laughter for you and your friends. Truly, there is hardly a better feeling that rubbing it into your friends that you know more than they do, in a good natured way, right?  Trivia has also appeared in on television, inspiring the phenomena of game shows. One of the most popular and long running game shows on TV today is Jeopardy, which bases its questions on general knowledge question and trivia.  Granted, its appeal is in the fact that the answers are difficult and may not be common knowledge to everyone, but that just makes it better. When you are able to answer Jeopardy questions, you feel smart. I suspect this is why the show has remained so popular. There are other game shows out there that do similar things, although their trivia questions are much more common knowledge derived.  There is no doubt that these types of shows and board games will continue to be popular, and with new technologies we will find new ways to pose trivia questions to each other.
